Hercules came to us last summer from the Central Valley. He was kept outside, not socialized and underweight. This poor guy came in shy and unsure of what it meant to be inside a home and cuddled. Our fosters spent months with him getting him to open up and accept love and not be terrified of strangers. He went through a few foster homes since he was with us for so long but everyone added a piece to his story.
We think he is around 2 ½ years old now but the owner had never taken him to a vet and didn’t tell us his age. The early years of a dog’s life are key for socializing with not only other dogs but also humans. Luckily pugs are such a forgiving breed and as he was showered with love and cuddles, he opened up and started to show his cute personality.
Hercules went to numerous adoption events, had people look at him but he was never quite the right fit for them and kept getting overlooked. Then in February, 7 months in the rescue, the perfect family came along! They saw his bio on our website, came to an adoption event and fell in love. Adoption events are often chaotic, and this one definitely was with Hercules stuck in traffic on his way to the event and running late. Kristen and her kids waited over an hour for this special boy to arrive and before we knew it he was sitting in Kristen’s lap and we could all see the love blooming.
As often happens, her daughter fell in love with a different pug, Charles, and this is typically where our story for Hercules would end. However, Kristen said we are taking them both they will be brothers and we can’t wait to take them home. Hercules got his happy ending and this sweet young family got two amazing pugs.

Happy Tails to Parker. Max had been asking for a pug for quite sometime. He saw a Pug-o-Ween flyer and suggested his parents go to see the pugs as he was working. On the way to the event Mom said she wasn’t bringing a pug home. She came to the adoption area to ask questions and see the available pugs. A volunteer asked her if she wanted to hold Parker, she knew he was the one for them, with her husband facing health challenges in the coming months; she knew Parker would be a great source of healing for the family. Max got his pug, Parker found a forever home and Dad has a comforter. It’s awesome when things fall into place, thank you for giving Parker a home and for fulling a son’s wish.

When Astro came to us in early August he had been hit by a car with a fractured femur and pelvis. He had surgery with his leg pinned for 8 weeks to heal and a week ago he got the pin out. Friday he met his new family and went home to Nevada. This little guy remained so sweet thru it all in true pug fashion💕 #tinypawspugrescue
